Why is my senior cat vomiting foam, gassy, and making stomach noises?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 years and 7 months old | 4 lbs

i have an older female cat vomiting foam most mornings, loud stomach sounds, foul smelling gas and BM's no diarrhea, no major behavior changes, no noticable changes in eating, drinking or urination. some heaving and swallowing spells like there's hair stuck in her throat too. Can you give me an idea of what the cause could be, so i'm more prepared for what i'll hear at her vet visit next week?

Oh no, poor Chi Chi! It's quite serious that she is vomiting most mornings, and she could be suffering from liver disease, kidney failure, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or cancer among other causes. I would have Chi Chi seen by a vet sooner than next week if possible, and I would recommend having a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis done to survey her organ function and check for the diseases I mentioned above. I hope this helps!
