My dog has cuts. How will the vet safely restrain him if he's in pain?

It really depends on how aggressive and painful the dog is. Some dogs are great but others who are painful or just endured trauma are not always the most compliant patients. A tight hug and minimal restraint is enough for non-painful/non-aggressive dogs. More painful or aggressive dogs may need a muzzle, more restraint, and sometimes sedation to fully examine and address the wounds.

    Minimal restraint should be used, but more may be needed if the animal is aggressive. Typically a tech or a vet nurse is used to help with the restraint so that the vet can have their hands free to clean the cuts and abrasions.
