My Shar Pei has been panting more then usual aND I have seen a mucus bubble from his nose once.he eats well and drinks plenty of water

Poor Dudley! This excess panting could be due to cardiac disease, being hot, or a respiratory disease. A respiratory disease could cause the mucus bubble as well. In this case, I think a health check for Dudley would be a good idea, and I would have him seen by a vet today for this. The vet can diagnose if there is medical causing behind this panting and can discuss treatment options with you.
