My new cats wrestle and bite. Is this fighting or just playing?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 15 lbs

I have two cats new to each other. They get along most of the time but do scuffle. When they do they wrestle they bite each other and have each other's fur in their mouth when they come apart. They keep going at it until I clap loud or yell. They don't seem super angry as there are no vocalisations-no hissing or screaming. I'm still wary of leaving them alone in the house when we leave so am still separating them while at work. Am i right to keep them separate? Does this sound like fighting?

No, it doesn't like like fighting to me. They are likely wresting and playing with each other. If there is no hissing and screaming, they are just having fun with each other. If there was fighting, there would be vocalization, hissing, and tense body posture. If you aren't seeing any of that, you don't need to separate them when you are at work.
