My stray dog I feed suddenly got too close. What's happening?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Sudden change in behaviour. I am feeding a stray dog for a week. Everything was normal- I was feeding him and he kept his distance. But yesterday I gave him some boiled eggs and since then, whenever I meet him he comes very close near my legs and toes. He is a stray so I don't want him to lick me. Whenever he come close I kinda stop him by petting him on his head. I don't know what he is doing.

He's coming closer because he trusts you and wants to show you affection for feeding him. You are showing him love and attention by feeding him, and he wants to give you the same in return. It's lovely that you are feeding him, but if you don't want to keep him, I suggest giving the RSPCA a call to come and get him. They can get him veterinary treatment to make sure he is healthy and find him a home.
