Is my indoor cat stressed or anxious because I feed an outdoor stray?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 years and 11 months old | 16 lbs

I have an 11 year old tuxedo cat. Since late last fall I've been feeding a outside cat. I created a shelter for him. My cat gets jealous and is aloof until I say "I'm sorry" then him warms up and purrs. My question is; Am I causing my cat un-intended anxiety and possible future behavioral issues?

No, you aren't causing Paris any problems. While he may not like it that you are looking after another cat, he clearly gets over it. There are plenty of owners who have multiple cats that are able to show love and attention to each cat without causing problems in the other cats.
