Kitten licks and nibbles when picked up. Is this normal? What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 14 days old

Whenever I pick her up, she'll start nibbling and licking. What is that about? Is she teething? What should I do?

This is quite normal behavior for a young kitten - it will improve as she matures and becomes more used to being handled. Use a towel when picking her up and try to handle her after mealtimes and after play when she is more likely to be calm and placid
