Why won't my cat raise her tail, walk, or let me touch her back?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 25 lbs

My cat recently might have injured her back end. She won't raise her tail and gets upset when touched. She doesn't want to walk around or do anything either.

Oh no, poor Peanut! If she won't raise her tail and doesn't want to walk around, it's certainly possible she injured her back end. An injury to the back end can have negative effects on the nerves running to her bladder and bowels, so it's best that she is seen by a vet now for a physical exam and x-rays. If she has suffered an injury to her back end, the vet can discuss treatment options with you.
