How can I tell the difference between ringworm and an abcess....or could the two occur simultaneously?

The two could potentially occur simultaneously in rare occasions, but generally speaking the abscess should consist in a pus filled cavity, whereas ringworm lesion is usually plain, alopecic (bald) and with possible erythematous area there.
