My puppy was attacked. Can I treat his torn cheek at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 20 days old | 28 lbs

Hello, my puppy of 15 weeks got attacked by an older bull terrier and tore his left check. The skin is still attached but it's hanging. Is there any home remedies that I can do for him (Zues)?

Poor pup! I would strongly discourage home care for a wound like this. Yes, wounds can heal by second intention (without sutures ), but risk of infection and delayed healing are potential complications. I would clean it with warm water as best you can, and get him in to a veterinarian soon. Even if your veterinarian elects to let it heal without intervention, they can clean it properly and prescribe antibiotics.
