As there are hundreds of different types of antibiotics, you should try to tell us which ones where inside the tube or alternatively take Peanut straight to your veterinarian for a check up and symptomatic treatment to avoid intoxication.     Yes this can be harmful to Peanut because human antibiotic ointments contain ingredients that are necessarily safe to be ingested. I would take him into a vet immediately for this, and be sure to provide the name of the medication so the vet can look up the ingredients. The vet can treat him as needed to prevent any toxicity. Please bring him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
