My dog has a fever and nasal discharge. Can I give her aspirin or home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 2 years and 4 months old | 65 lbs

My dog is running a fever of 103.7, lethargic, eating small amounts of food and water, pooping and peeing normally, has yellow sticky mucus from nose, I was wanting to know if I could give her baby aspirin for the fever or if there is anything I can do at home to make her feel better.

No, you cannot give her baby aspirin or any other human anti fever medications as most are very toxic to dogs, as she is running a fever and has nasal discharge it's pretty obvious she is suffering from an infection and will need to be taken to the vet ASAP, she will need an antibiotic course.
