Ouch! Poor Jasmine. Typically, the digital paw pad associated with the broken toenail can become inflamed in these situations. However, if Jasmine caught the metacarpal paw pad on something sharp (even a sharp edge of a broken toenail), that could have injured that pad. Broken toenails can bleed profusely. Styptic powder (such as QuikStop) is often beneficial to keep around, but in a pinch, corn starch or flour applied to the broken nail with pressure can help to slow the bleeding. Broken toenails and injured paw pads can be quite painful, so Jasmine should see her vet for appropriate pain medication and may need antibiotics if there is suspicion that the lesions may become infected. Make sure Jasmine wears an e-collar for the next few days to prevent her from licking at the affected paw, causing further irritation.
