My senior dog's leg wound isn't improving. When will it heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered

My eldest dog, who's like 10 years old, has developed an unusual hole right near his "elbow" on one of his front legs where I can almost see his bone and I don't understand how did that appear since the previous day he was fine. He's already been checked by a vet and he's under a treatment of antibiotics, topical medication and bandaged wounds but I don't really see any improvement. Is it too early to see improvements? Should I do something else?

It seems your vet did and prescribed all what was necessary as a first approach. How long has been on treatment for? It might be too early to see any improvement though. Difficult to guess any possible cause other than a traumatic injury without seeing at least a picture of it. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation (where you can post pictures ) if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
