What causes my dog's puffy eyes and bags underneath them often?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 24 lbs

MY DOG HAS PUFFY EYES WITH BAGS UNDERNEATH MORE OFTEN THEN NOT. ITS SO BAD AT TIMES HE LOOKS LIKE AN OLD MAN. THE VET DOESNT SEEM CONCERNED MOST LIKELY AS HE IS JUST FINE WHEN WE SEE HER SO SHE HASNT SEEN THEM. I FEEL SOMETHING IS WRONG AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT CAN CAUSE THIS.

It may be caused by an allergic reaction since it sounds like it happens suddenly and goes away on its own. You may want to try and take a picture of it to show your veterinarian as a reference since the eyes don't appear that way when Tucker is examined. Your veterinarian may be able to give you a better idea of what to do if she can see what you are seeing.
