When should I neuter my male Pug to prevent health problems?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 13 days old | 2 lbs

When do you suggest my male Pug gets neutered? I think around 7 months should be okay, but I know people who like to wait due to health reasons.

There is scientific evidence that in certain dog breeds there is an elevated risk for joint disease when neutering under the age of 3 months. I usually suggest that 6 months is a good age for neutering.

Great question! I think having Jose neutered around 7 months is perfectly fine. I usually recommend having a dog neutered around that time. Good on you for getting him neutered, that's very responsible of you :-)
