How will my female cat in heat behave when introduced to a male cat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 7.055 lbs

If my cat is in her heat cycle, how long will it take to introduce her to a male cat? Will she be territorial or tell him in as she is in her heat cycle? And if she would let him in would she start attacking him after her heat cycle or not?

If Honey is in heat, she will be very receptive to the introduction of a male, and will show it by presenting her rear end to him and lifting up her tail. When a cat is in heat, they have significant behavioral changes, including increased vocalization, increased affection, crawling and rolling on the floor, and restlessness. Should she be approaching the end of her heat, she will not allow the male to mate with her, so if you want kittens, you will need to mate Honey when she first shows signs of going into heat.
