My dog's pancreatic enzymes are high, but he has no symptoms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old

Looking for your opinion. My dogs pancreas enzymes are super high after having blood work done to check for pancreatitis but he's showing no symptoms. Eats, sleeps, drinks, exercises all normal. No pain or discomfort. Ultrasound shows pancreas is a tiny bit brighter then normal but nothing concerning to the radiologist. Wall of the intestine is slightly thicker but still on the high end of normal. He's eating gastrointestinal low fat vet food. What would cause his levels to be so high?

Pancreatitis is a "spectrum disease" meaning that inflammation of the pancrease, which leads to high levels, can cause anywhere from no clinical signs to severe life threatening signs. We treat symptomatically, so if he is having no signs I would just leave him alone and give his normal diet. You can recheck the values in 2-3 weeks to see if they have come down. Good luck with Jeter.
