My puppy has fleas. Is it safe to give his new flea medicine early?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 17 days old | 45 lbs

I think my puppy out grew his flea and tick medicine in the last 3 months, and now he has a few fleas, i have his new prescription which matches his weight which i should start in 6 days, is it possible to start it early or would that hurt him or could is cause any type of harm or discomfort at all? I just want his fleas to be gone.

Oh no, I'm sorry Koda has fleas! It is safe to give him his new flea medication now, and keep in mind you need to disinfect the environment as well to kill all the fleas. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.
