My 7-year-old dog has a red growth on his penis. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Vizsla | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 146 lbs

I have a 7-yr-old Vizsla, intact, with a growth on his penis. It is small, dark red, appearing similar to a blood blister, and was first noticed about 6 weeks ago due to excessive licking. Should it be removed and biopsied?

Hello. Any red/raised mass on the skin in a 7 year old should be checked out. It could just be infection or a wart, however what you are describing could also be a tumour, and if removed early could prevent it from spreading. I would recommend having it removed and biopsied. Good luck with your little Patrick!
