Dog has swollen lump on face/neck from bite. When to see vet?

It seems my dog got stung or bit by something near the side of her face/ upper neck area. Last night when I noticed it, it was a hard swollen mass. I gave her benedryl and it seemed to help lower the swelling and the mass isn't as hard anymore. She doesn't seem to be sick and is acting normal. It doesn't bug her to kind of squeeze it either. What should I be doing? I don't have a lot of money for a vet visit at the moment but I don't want her to be in any pain.. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 1 year old | 46 lbs

Hello. A mass as you are describing could be from a bug bite, and if so the swelling should go away in about 48 hours. If the swelling continues past that time then I would be worried about an abscess/cyst/tumor. If it isn't painful or bothering her, and it continues to get smaller then you can monitor it, however if it doesn't go away, gets bigger, gets hard, or becomes painful, then I would recommend you have it seen and tested with a "Fine needle aspirate".
