My rabbit jumps and paces in his cage. Is he bored or anxious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered

Max continues to jump from side to side in front of his cage door when ever I walk past him or past the room he is in. I do use him for breeding my other rabbits but he paces a lot. Is it possible he's just anxious or 'crazy'??

Max sounds like he is trying to get your attention :) Rabbits are highly social creatures and when kept in small cages with little stimulation often get very bored and destructive. Is it possible for you to have "play time" with Max where he is allowed to run around loose in a playpen area inside the house, or in a fenced, safe backyard? Also, consider rabbit-safe toys like cardboard boxes and plenty of sticks and hay to chew on, for all your rabbits. Hope that helps!
