Why is my puppy disoriented, wobbly, shaky, and has a low heart rate?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shorthaired Pointer (duplicate) | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 11 days old | 45 lbs

I have a GSP/English springer. He is 10 months old. He is disoriented, wobbly and shaky when walking . His eyes will be focused, then roll back and he falls asleep, but his eye lids are open. His heart rate is 48bpm . His canine gums look fine. I haven't seen him vomit or had diarrhea yet.

So, potential serious concerns would be 1. poisoning (ie antifreeze, pot, chemicals, rotten carcasses, etc.) 2. seizures (dogs get epilepsy and it commonly presents in puppies 3. metabolic issue like a liver shunt can cause neurologic symptoms 4. trauma to the brain like being hit by a car. Any neurologic symptoms are very serious and I would take him to an emergency veterinarian for a full workup.
