Dog's back legs weak seasonally, trouble walking. Is it allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 10 years and 11 months old | 45 lbs

Hi there, last year around this time my dog was having very severe issues with her back legs. She would constantly kick them out behind her when walking or when she was excited. It got so bad that eventually, she had a hard time walking down the stairs or lifting her hips up. I repeatedly brought her to the vet who had no answers for me. It got worse over the course of spring and summer but then went away like it never happened. It started again yesterday. Is it seasonal allergies?! Please help!

Allergies would not commonly cause mobility or lameness issues unless the skin becomes broken and painful. If no physical cause has been found, acupuncture and chiropractic care may help provide some relief
