Considering a dog with microphthalmia: Will future vet costs be high?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I am thinking about adopting a one year old dag with microphthalmia in one eye. As I don't know much, I am wondering if this could end of being very large vet bills in the future?

It is hard to know without a full physical assessment - some cases may have problems with the position of eyelids and either inturned eyelashes or failure to blink fully, possibly requiring corrective surgery. A full vet report would be recommended prior to adoption
