Why is my dog struggling to pee with discharge and swollen penis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 50 lbs

My dog has a condition where every month or so he stops being able to pee. He has white/yellow discharge from penis. No stones present. No uti. Reoccuring- sometimes seems as if the penis is enlarged or swollen. Help!

Hello. I feel the next step would be to investigate the prostate. An enlarged or swollen penis would imply lack of drainage of fluids from the penis, so checking to see if his lymph nodes are enlarged would be a good place to look as well. I would discuss these options with your vet as a next step. Good luck with Diego.
