Why does my Cavapoo puppy have soft, mucousy poop after Dentastix?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 months and 24 days old | 15 lbs

I have a 9 month Cavapoo. A few days ago her poop changed to soft with mucus. She always goes in the morning normally then goes 10/15 minutes later when this happens. I've changed nothing except some new dentastix and as far as I know has not picked up anything unusual outside. There are no other symptoms and seems fine in all other respects. I only gave her half a dentastix as they looked huge. It only happens once a day.

Hello. It could be that Jess just got into something that upset her stomach, or she could have worms. I would discuss if she needs to be dewormed with your vet (if they haven't already done this), and I would try just a boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breast and some boiled rice in small frequent meals for the next couple days, and then re-introduce her food. This will treat a mild gastritis. If it continues you can get her feces checked for parasites. Good luck with Jess.
