My dog has normal MCT in spleen. Is it mast cell tumor metastasis?

Hello, my oncologist hasn't answered my question so I wanted to see if you could. I wanted to see if my dog's mast cell tumors had metasisized and they saw some mct's in the spleen, but they said they weren't abnormal. So I know that mct are in all dogs, a normal amount of them. So my question is that the mct found in my dog's spleen are the normal mct tumors so my question is the mct found in cats and dogs spleen that are abnormal or have an abnormal amount does that mean the mct has metasized?

It's difficult to recognize mast cells as abnormal on cytologic evaluation. Usually, when a mast cell tumor has metastasized to the spleen, there is a nodule in the spleen that can be visualized with ultrasound or at surgery. Just taking a random aspirate of the spleen and finding normal mast cells does not necessarily prove metastasis, but a recheck ultrasound in 3 months should be helpful if you are still concerned.
