My reptile has bloody poop. What can I do to help him before the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

He pooped out a cm size poop very bloody all over my friends hands!! She's taking him to the vet asap tomorrow but is there anything she can do to help him be comfortable tonight. It is large very bloody and brown with white, it doesn't look like a prolapse but she is currently washing him in warm water very shallow, is there anything else to do? He just started eating giant meal worms as well.

Keep him warm and as stress free as possible. If he is on loose substrate, switch him to slate, paper towels or reptile carpeting to prevent material from sticking to his vent. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites.
