My kitten has bloody stools after itraconazole. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 lbs

Vet prescribed itraconizole oral for 3 weeks at every pther week intervals for my 5 month old kitty. Shes done with the meds but now how loose stools with blood. Is that from the meds you think?

I highly doubt that Charlotte's bloody diarrhea is a result of the itraconazole since she did not experience this while receiving the medication. GI upset can certainly be seen during administration of itraconazole, but I was unable to find reports of this occurring after treatment has concluded. The more likely scenario is that Charlotte has an intestinal parasite, virus, or some GI upset from eating something different. Your vet will be able to perform an exam and fecal exam to check for the presence of parasites.
