Dog vomiting at night: Is it separation anxiety or something serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

I'm dog sitting my parents dogs at my house this week and their 5 year old chihuahua/Boston mix has been getting sick every once in awhile usually at night or early in the morning. Is this just separation anxiety? If not what should I do?

Hello! It is quite possible that this is just related to separation anxiety. If Max is still eating well, playful, and just vomiting occasionally, I wouldn't worry, until they get home. But if he has loss of appetite, or diarrhea, or ongoing vomiting, then I would suggest calling your vet.
