My Chihuahuas aren't eating much. Why have they lost their appetite?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered

Hello, my concern is about my chihuahuas, I have noticed in the past few days that they're not eating as much as usual. By the time I feed them again the next day, their bowls have hardly touched. What would make them stopped eating as much? Thanks, Yana

Hi! It's hard to say for sure. I wonder if there could be something wrong with the batch of food, if both are choosing not to eat it. It is also possible that one of the dogs is eating, but the other isn't. You could try feeding them some boiled lean hamburger meat with rice (this is a bland, easily digestible diet), to make sure that they have good appetite. If only one is eating well, then the other one should be examined by a vet, to look into the cause. Best of luck!
