My dog's lump biopsy bled. Is this normal or cause for concern?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 7 months old

Hi my dog has had a lump on his back (above his back leg) for a few months. We took him to the vet today and they have taken some samples for a biopsy and we are waiting results within a few days. Upon taking the samples there was a bit of blood. Do you think that is normal or is it a cause for concern?

There can be a bit of blood when a biopsy is done, but if the lump itself was filled with blood that can be a cause for concern. Without seeing Rocky in person, I can't say for certain, so as hard as it is, I would wait until the results come back. Hopefully everything is ok!
