My cat's collar had tightened while we were at work. Her neck has swollen considerably just below the chin. It seems to be a result of the tight collar. Is it possible that it is a muscle strain? Or could it be something more serious?

It could be something more serious, such as damage to the internal anatomy under the collar. Given that her neck has swollen considerably, I would have her seen by a vet right away. She needs a physical exam and x-rays to see if there has been any damage internally from the tightened collar. If there is damage, then the vet can treat her.
