My foster dog tested heartworm positive positive. She was treated and is on prevention twice a month. She is coughing do bad she is foaming out her mouth. Her nose is dry. Her breathing sounds like she is stuffy in her nose. She is also being very lazy. Is this normal?

I would be concerned about these signs even if they are related to heartworm disease, and would not consider this type of coughing as typical for a dog recovering from heartworm. If she seems to be having trouble breathing you should seek emergency veterinary care. A chest x-ray might be recommended depending on how Tess's chest sounds on physical exam.

Ideally, she should be rechecked by you veterinarian. The cough may be lingering effects from the heartworm infection or it could be something else (infection or inflammation). There is nothing over the counter you can safely give her. Always check with you rvet first before medicating a pet.
