Why is my puppy thin and not eating after her rabies booster?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 9 days old | 43 lbs

Doctor my puppy has low appetite i gave appetite improving tablet but yet she doesnt eat well. This was after rabies booster vaccine. She is active but thin looking now. deworming tablets were given on time but it didnt affected her look. Is this normal for her age. She looks for raw meat rather than the usual chicken and rice steamed diet with spinach. Doctor is her weight normal ? What should I do for her appetite issue ?

Raw meat could be making her sick. Don't give her raw food or bones. if you can, get her a high quality puppy food. If she is bright and happy and eating and pooping she could be having a growth spurt and that is why she is thin. If she is letgargic or not eating or vomiting then get her to a vet.

Sorry that she is having this problem. She could have an infection or a parasite so you should take a sample of her stool to your vet for parasite testing. She may need to be dewormed and your vet can prescribe medications based on the results of the test. It would be ok to give her a small amount of cooked beef/pork/chicken with rice.
