Why is my cat suddenly hiding, scowling, and won't be touched?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Manx | Male | neutered | 3 years and 2 months old | 11 lbs

About 12 hours ago we went outside to pat our cat who is usually friendly and playful, but he scowled at us with a loud 'mrrrooow' which he has never ever done before. Since then he has been hiding in the neighbours bush without food or water, and we gave him dinner out there which he ate but still refuses to let us touch him etc. which is worrying because he never does this to us and is always so happy and friendly and nice to play with, and I have never ever heard him scowl 'mrrrooow' before

It could be that poor Donny may have been injured and doesn't feel well, and that's what he's showing this behavior. I would monitor him for now, and if he keeps acting this way, or stops eating and becomes very lethargic, then I would have him seen by a vet.
