My puppy has coronavirus. Can I give him chicken broth or raw eggs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 21 days old | 10 lbs

My 3-4 month old puppy has Coronavirus. We gave him meds from our vet and gatetaid. Hes still very sick. Will chicken broth and raw eggs be a good helper? Hes very weak and we have to force feed even liquids. Hes starting to get so weak he cant even keep his head up.

Hello. I am sorry your puppy is sick. Do not give anything raw as he is already immunocompromised. It sounds like he needs to be in hospital on IV fluids. I would take him to your vet. Chicken broath is ok.

I'm sorry Scout has Coronavirus and is doing so poorly. No, I would not give him raw eggs, as that can make him even sicker. The chicken broth won't help either. It's concerning that he can't even keep his head up, and force feeding him liquids could cause him to aspirate. This is a medical emergency, and he needs veterinary care now. He needs IV fluids for hydration and to get electrolytes. There will be a vet on call for emergencies in your area, and the information to find this vet will be found on a clinic's answering machine or website. You can also see if there is an ER vet clinic in your area. Please take Scout into a vet asap.
