My rabbit got spooked and is bleeding. Should I take him to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | neutered | 2 years old | 5 lbs

My rabbit got spooked by a loud door, and started bolting full force at the walls of his cage repeatedly until I reached in and pulled him out. He tore out a lot of fur and was bleeding from his nose and his eyes were bloodshot (he's a REW) I haven't put him back in his cage yet he's just been hiding behind the hutch.. should I take him in to be examined?

It would probably be a good idea to have him examined but allow him to calm down first. Hopefully, the blood is just a result of mild trauma. The veterinarian will be able to determine the need for further diagnostics based on exam.
