Pet's info: Cat | Siberian | Female | spayed | 11 years and 11 months old | 3 lbs
I have a 12 year old Blue Lynx Point Siberian cat. For the last couple of months, I have found some small hard bumps around her neck. They're almost cyst like. She hasn't been to the vet in a while but is still eating and drinking. She is not as active as she used to be, but I am guessing that just comes with old age. I was wondering if you could tell me more about these bumps and if I need to take her to a vet? Thanks

These hard bumps on Lucy could be cysts, benign tumors, or malignant tumors. Any suspicious bumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on them. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the bump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would have Lucy seen by a vet for these bumps. I would also recommend having a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis done on her. That's to check how her organs are functioning, and if there are any concerning health problems that may be underlying.
