My cat keeps reopening his nose wound despite the cone. Help!

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 years and 5 months old | 6.4 lbs

A scratch appeared on fredericks nose just between his eyes. From where I don't know. I was fine and scabbed over within a few days and then he scratched it and the scab can off, making the wound bigger and deeper. He has continued to do this 3 or 4 times. And at each time just before healing he reopens it. The vet gave us a cone for his head and thas been on 6 days now but tonight he rubbed his nose (which was healing well) on a corner sofa and it reopened. What can I do to help him. Please tha

Hello. Depending on the size and depth of the wound, it will either just need time to heal on it's own (if it is not full thickness through the skin, and not too big. This will take a couple weeks. Just leaving the cone on, or getting a bigger size will help with this. Otherwise you can have the wound closed surgically. If you have a vet look at the wound they will tell you if surgical intervention is needed or not. Feel free to send pictures through a "consultation" and we can give you a better idea as well.
