Can neutering stop my male dog from constantly harassing females?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 11 months old | 12 lbs

I used a great pet program to spay my 2 females. They require a year to pass before hlpng another from the same family. They hvn't had funds for some time,so Sampson has not been netrd. Estrus symptoms. All the males are here. Sampson has been torturing the girls to the point they are grwng nervous. He follows evry step they make. I have tried distraction, punishing, now I may be forced to leave him outdoors. Will being neutrd help his bullying? This lasts longer than a normal heat cycle as wel

Hello. Sampson will likely continue to harass the females until he is neutered, and he could even continue to harass them afterwards but usually less than previously. The younger you neuter the less behavioural issues you will have. If the females are unspayed then this will make things worse for Sampson as he is attracted to the females in heat. Males do not have a cycle as females do, males are just excited anytime they are around an in season female. You will need to keep them separate so you do not have unwanted kittens.
