Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | 5 years and 11 months old
Hi. My dog vomited after his dinner a couple hours ago. Has been acting completely normal, drinking water and wanting food since. Other than acting as if he was going to vomit a couple times after the actual vomiting, but then it seems to go away. My vet is closed and I am sure he didn't eat anything he wasn't supposed to. I think he just has an upset tummy. Can I give him gravol tonight? If so what is the right dose for a 67lb boxer.

While dimenhydrinate can be given to dogs it is primarily used for motion sickness and is unlikely to help with Cruz's nausea. I'd recommend pulling his food and water up for the next 6-8 hours to allow his stomach to rest, then trying a small amount of water and 1/4 of a normal meal. If he continues to vomit or seems weak or lethargic I'd recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian tonight.

Hello. I am sorry that Cruz isn't feeling well. I would definitely NOT give any Gravol. There are two reasons for this. 1. It doesn't work well to stop vomiting in dogs and it also causes sedation and 2. if it does work you may mask very serious clinical signs. If your dog just had one vomit and is otherwise bright, alert, playing, eating and pooping well then monitor him, however if he vomits again I would recommend having him seen at the emergency to ensure he doesn't have an obstruction. A simple gastritis will clear up on it's own with a diet of boiled boneless, skinless chicken breast and boiled rice, you can feed this in small frequent meals. If he continues to vomit you should have him assessed.
