Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 10 lbs
A year ago we adopted a special needs 5yr old shih tzu. He had neurological damage that left his back legs useless and he was incontinent both with urine and fecal. He'd get recurring utis. Last week he contracted a very bad bacteria infection and passed suddenly. We are devastated. Tests showed hypoglycemia, high wbc, rbc, potassium, HCT,HGB,he was septic and his kidneys and liver were failing. I feel like I am responsible. Could it have been a missed uti? Vet says possible cancer or Addison.

I am sorry for your loss but given the care you had given and the experience you had in spitting the utis it is unlikely you missed the early warning signs and more likely ge developed a rapidly progressing, severe crisis, possibly complicated by a tumor or addisons
