My vet gives monthly scripts. Can I get longer pet medication refills?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

My vet wants to issue script every 30 days only. Cost £10 for script and £48 for 30 tablets. Can I get a prescription online for vidalta for a longer period and for more than 30 tablets Thanks

Your vet should be able to write you a prescription for 30 tablets with a certain amount of refills so you don't need a prescription every month. Usually the refills should be 6-12 months depending on when your vet wants to do a recheck and test some blood-work. I am not sure of the laws in the UK but in the US a vet has to provide a written prescription and a client can have it filled online or at a human pharmacy if the product is available. You could call some other vets in your area and ask about their policy and then change vets if it works out better.
