My dog has watery stool after eating trash. Should I wait or act?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 70 lbs

So my dog has been regular on his stool twice a day every day and a decent size for a husky of his size. Yet tonight when I walked him all he could manage was a very small amount watery stool. No blood or extra gunk just very small and watery. He seems fine otherwise and shows no pain when I pet his belly. He did recently get into the trash but I don't think he ate anything but I could be wrong. Should I just wait and see if it's better tomorrow? Is there anything I can do in the meantime?

As he is otherwise well this is likely an enteritis due to stealing something spoiled from the trash. Continue to monitor closely for any other signs and feed small meals of bland, low fat food. A probiotic supplement may also speed recovery
