My dog has Discospondylitis and won't get up. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Standard Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 28 lbs

Our dog is currently on day 2 of antibiotics for Discospondylitis. Is it normal with this condition for there to be waxing and waning in recovery? He was quite good yesterday and got up at around 10am, napped all day and then went to sleep around 9pm. This morning he won't get up at all and hasn't moved since last night, but is wide awake.

Hi there! I am worried to hear this. I wouldn't expect a waxing and waning course for this condition. He might not be moving around because he is painful, or has a fever. I would recommend that you get him checked out by a vet as soon as possible!
