Pet's info: Dog | Standard Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 28 lbs
Our 8mo Schnauzer has been diagnosed with Discospondylitis. He was at the Vet on Sunday and had an injection of antibiotics. He is now at home and taking Clindamycin+PK Although I know it is early days. He is still almost impossible to rise in the morning, seems very groggy and sometimes squeals in pain. When he does get moving though he is good on his legs, eats/drinks and wags his tail. Does this sound like good progress or should his pain have subsided already with the antibiotics for 2 days?

The response to treatment in cases of discospondylitis can be highly variable from patient to patient, but most cases take 1-2 weeks on antibiotics to see significant improvement in pain. Some dogs show no sign of pain at that mark, but some still have a degree of discomfort. It sounds as though Eddie is improving quite well only 2 days into treatment.
