Just noticed that Maggie lefts her back leg but is not in pain. When I walk her there is no problem but when she is upstairs and has been lying down she lefts the leg...

She could have some arthritis in her hips, a loose knee cap, or a strain/sprain. You could have your vet examine her to determine the cause. Your vet can take an X-ray, if needed, to help diagnose and the determine the best way to treat. She may need an anti-inflammatory to treat.

Hello. This sounds more like back or neck pain. If her leg was the issue, she would limp. Have your veterinarian examine her and check range of motion in her neck and palpate along her spine for pain. If found, she can be treated with rest and anti inflammatory medication. He could have a strain, sprain, loose knee cap, or possibly a torn ligament. Since this has been going on for 17 days, he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can take an x-ray, if needed, to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. He may need an anti-inflammatory, pain medications, or possibly surgery to fix the problem.

She may have torn her cruciate ligament, have a problem with her knee cap, have a fracture, etc. Since she seems to be in pain, you should take her to your vet today for an orthopedic examination. Your vet can take an x-ray, if needed, to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. An anti-inflammatory and pain medications can be prescribed to help relieve any pain. What you're describing sounds like a condition called a luxating patella. This is when the knee cap slides in and out of its groove. This condition overtime can lead to arthritis and potential he predispose a dog to tearing a ligament in the knee. Your veterinarian maybe to do an orthopedic exam and tell you if this is the case.

He could have some arthritis in is joints, issue with his knee cap, partial cruciate tear, etc. You could put him on a joint supplement, like Dasuquin, and see if that helps. Otherwise, have your vet take a look at him. Your vet can take x-rays to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat. He may need an anti-inflammatory and pain medications.

Intermittent, painful lameness in dogs of her breed is often related to slipping patella, hip problems (for the hind leg) and sometimes elbow dysplasia (for the front leg lameness). Hello. The hips do look pretty good. I would ask your veterinarian to examine & determine if it is possible that Zoi has injured her knee. I would be especially interested in your vet conducting an exam looking for a cranial drawer sign that would indicate an anterior cruciate ligament tear, a common injury in larger breed dogs. My dog has been kind of limping. I have been noticing this in the past few day. I have checked her around and she shows no sign of discomfort or pain. However, she lifted her leg every once in while. What could this be?

The limping could be secondary to trauma, a strain / sprain, dislocating knee cap (common in this size of a dog and breed, etc. If the limping continues, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at Leia so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The most common condition causing this symptom in this breed is called patelar luxation which is basically displacement of the knee cap. you will need to get it checked by your vet to assess the severity of the condition, it might require surgery depending on the level of pain and lameness.

Why is one of her back legs easier to pull straightly when she's laying down? The other one stretches so easily & the other it's like she's holding her leg back in the best position. She not acting like she's in pain, she runs really fast & jumps off
If one leg is harder to extend it could indicate early arthritis or it may simply be that she is holding it back tighter. I wouldn't worry if she is moving about fine, but you could always have the vet check it out. It might be worth starting her on a joint supplement with glucosamine and chondroitin.
