My duck was attacked by a dog. Are these neck lumps an infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed

Our duck recently was injured by the neighbors dog. It basically just attacked the neck and removed all feathers of the ducks neck. It seemed to be doing well and still does but this morning we noticed a couple lumps on the top of the neck. We have been keeping it clean and it is indoors to prevent infection. She has been eating, drinking and preening. What could cause these lumps or knots?

These could be abscesses due to the dog bites, birds must have antibiotics after being attacked by other animals otherwise wounds almost always get infected, you will need to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated.
